Your data stays on your computer

Chats, projects, files and settings are stored on your computer; OpenCodex does not upload them to the cloud.

Signing in

Sign-in is optional. If you sign in with GitHub or Google, the account service receives that account’s name, email and avatar to recognize you. Chats, projects and files never pass through it.

Agents and model services

Claude Code, Codex and the other agents are separate programs running on your computer. What you send them, and the files they read, go to their model services under your account and their own terms.

Connecting other devices

Connecting a phone or another computer is off by default. When you turn it on, only this computer can connect until you also allow your local network. Each device has its own connection code you can revoke at any time; on the phone the code is kept in the iOS Keychain. Projects, chats, files and terminal output only travel between your devices.

Built-in browser

Site passwords are encrypted on this computer, and agents can’t read them.

Third-party services

OpenCodex connects to code hosting, model providers and other third-party services only when you set them up.
